Hey Carindal Nation!!
This is my first blog, just putting a few words on here about Lance and the outstanding job he's done to this point! All good Cardinal fans are standing around the water cooler at work saying "Sure was a good thing we got Berkman, remember me telling you he'd rake for us this year??" When in reality, if we (myself included) were hesitant, if not outright upset that we signed him and put him in right field. I remember thinking, couldn't we spend $8 million on something better than Berkman? I remember watching him in the last half of last season and with the Yankees in the playoffs thinking, "man, this guys finally got a call from father time".
Fast forward to this year and to all of us die-hard fans eating up everything he's done from his solid defensive play to his red-hot start at the plate. Don't get me wrong, I don't think he can keep it up. But just think, if he's able to put in a .300/.400/ .575 line for the season with around 100 RBI's....how strong does that make us? That would give us the potential for this lineup as follows with POSSIBLE stats
1.) Ryan Theriot SS .295/.365/.400 with 8 HR/ 55 RBI
2.) Colby Rasmus CF .280/.370/.550 with 24 HR/ 80 RBI
3.) Albert Pujols 1B .311/.425/.625 with 35 HR/122 RBI
4.) Matt Holiday LF .320/.390/.590 with 31 HR/110 RBI
5.) Lance Berkman RF .300/.400/.575 with 35 HR/105 RBI
6.) David Freese 3B .325/.355/.475 with 16 HR/ 75 RBI
7.) Skip Schumaker 2B .280/.350/.405 with 8 HR/ 59 RBI
8.) Yadier Molina C .295/.330/.390 with 11 HR/ 65 RBI
This is an optimistic, but possible reality for the Cardinals and the offensive totals could reach close to 200 HR's for year with upwards of 800 RBI for the season!!!
